BATH RFC - OUR MISSION

‘To provide a fun, safe, enjoyable and effective pathway for girls and boys Junior players from the Minis to Adult Rugby by developing them as players and helping them mature as young adults.’

ABOUT THE CLUB

Steeped in heritage, Bath RFC was founded in 1865. Today it has flourished into a club that includes Bath RFC Minis, Juniors, Girls and Bath RFC Ladies.

Bath RFC girls and boys Minis and Juniors has approximately 250 players across 10 age groups (U7 to U17), with circa 45 DBS checked coaches/administrators and a separate exec committee that ensures that the club runs as smoothly as possible. This doesn’t include the many parents and volunteers that help operate the cafe and bar on a match day as well as numerous other essential tasks making the operation possible. On big home fixture days there can be over 300 people at the club (including players and parents). The whole scale of the operation means that it is a huge team effort to ensure we can provide such a great introduction to rugby for boys and girls of all abilities.

We are particularly proud of our ability to give everyone a chance to enjoy the game but also an environment in which players can reach their full potential, whatever that may be. We regularly supply players into the Bath Rugby development programme and the RFU Developing Player Pathway, and even some that have gone on to junior and senior international representative honours, but also have many that just enjoy playing week in and week out with their team mates on a Sunday. Many players go on to play the game at senior level and there are often generations that have played for the club. All are welcome and all are given the chance to have fun and develop, and we recognise that often that is at different ages so maintaining interest in the game, and the values on which the game is based, is critical.

Our girls and boys Minis (U7 to U12) train throughout the season at The Rec (adjacent to the Bath Rugby Club) and play friendly fixtures most weekends from September to May. Home and away fixtures are against most of the local clubs in our area as well as participating in cups, tournaments, and festivals.

Girls and boys Juniors (U13 to U17) play individual home and away fixtures throughout the season against local clubs from our local area as well as tours, cup games, tournaments, and festivals further afield. Under 17s play fixtures and competitions with players in this age group often also playing Colts rugby to help the integration and transition into Senior rugby.

The club facilities, coaching and parent support we have at Bath RFC means that the girls and boys Minis and Juniors teams can thrive and will continue to do so.
